Conservatives put pressure on Trudeau for details on alleged threats against Michael Chong’s family

Speaking during question period at the House of Commons on Tuesday, Conservative Party of Canada leader Pierre Poilievre grilled Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino on details regarding federal awareness of reported threats against Conservative MP Michael Chong and his family two years ago.
Poilievre alleged that the government had a Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) document in July of 2021 that showed an agent allegedly in Beijing's employ was arranging to sanction Chong’s family because of how he voted on the floor of the House of Commons. “And yet, for two years, this Prime Minister's government kept that agent accredited with diplomatic immunity, allowing him to abuse countless other Canadians of Chinese origin. How can we believe anything he says about protecting our national interests?”
Trudeau defended his government by saying, "It's actually irresponsible to suggest that any government might sit on a matter of such seriousness.” Trudeau added, "I know that steps have been taken to protect members when they could be in the spotlight of foreign actors because of the legitimate work they do in this place.”
Chong has said that Ottawa should have informed him about potential threats to his family made by China’s government two years ago. The MP released a statement after the Globe and Mail reported that China’s intelligence service sought to target the MP and his family and that a Chinese diplomat who remains in Canada was involved, citing a top-secret document and an anonymous national security source.

We don’t, many of us have jumped ship. I vote NDP provincially as they do well for where I live but federally I will no longer vote liberal, I don’t agree with every conservative issue, but currently the federal conservatives are the only ones I see with Canadians best interest in mind.

That would make the speaker position problematic. Their job is to stay out of partisan maters. They set the schedule and oversee the chamber and make sure proper decorum is maintained. You don't want them there pointing out when a politician asks a fallacious question.

Well is intimidating people in that fashion not a crime? Why are "crimes" not reported to police to investigate instead of just being buried on the PMO desk for years? Someone called the police on Myles Gray just for having sprayed someone with a garden house and the Vancouver police arrived and beat him to death it's taken 7 years to get to court too. Yet a foreign diplomat does far worse than spray someone with a hose and it's not dealt with at all by authorities?

Because that’s not a local police job, that’s an RCMP job. It’s political interference based on international influence. That goes beyond even provincial jurisdiction. But the RCMP and CSIS are in trudeaus pocket so they haven’t prosecuted a single of these crimes in 8 years
