Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva gets 4-year ban from sport over doping

Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva has been given a four-year ban from the sport after committing an anti-doping rule violation, the Court of Arbitration for Sport said Monday.
Despite Valieva’s disqualification, the Russian Olympic team will still receive a bronze medal in the 2022 Beijing Olympics. The U.S. has been promoted to gold according to updated results published Tuesday.
Russia has said it does not accept the results.
In Moscow, Russians expressed their disappointment after news of Valieva’s four-year ban from figure skating.
“As a matter of fact, they just crossed her out. I think this is just unfair,” said one Moscow resident, Yuliya.

Absolutely political decision. Starting from when they "discover" her doping, just right in the middle of olympic games, just after her team performance and before her solo. So they can completely destroy her mentally during the games. One of the most disgusting things in history of sport. Kamila is so big genius, she is not a sportsman she is an artist. To see her skating is a blessing, but politics have no bad thing they wouldn't do for their purposes. Who wants to see international sport after that?

@Aaron-rw3lv no one caught her! It was WADA who checked her sample for 45 days instead of the required maximum 20 days! What did WADA do for 45 days with Valieva’s sample? They contaminated it with doping, this is the only answer! Let WADA be held accountable for the setup and political solution to this issue. There should be no politics in sports! But WADA IOC ISU CAS decided on Valieva’s issue purely for political reasons. And this is very, very disgusting towards a 15-year-old athlete! She was given 4 years only because she is from Russia! If she were American or English or Canadian, no one would even know about her contaminated sample because she was 15 years old! It's a dirty game WADA MOK ISU KAS! Disgusting and disgusting again!

I agree with you there. There are female athletes from all countries who have physiques any male would envy. But they have not been caught and know how to get around the doping tests. I am sure the other Russian skaters were doped along with Valieva but the doping left the system before testing. Or they were older and refused their coaches. Valieva was too young and her coaches betrayed her.

@@janroach1852 You are engaged in substitution of concepts. A microdose of a cardiac drug is hardly something that an athlete would take to improve the result, it is the wrong remedy. But environmental pollution in everyday life is not uncommon. Although there are many questions about Valieva's case: both with the test, which was postponed longer than the prescribed time, and the result was not reported before the start of the competition, and with the press, which reacted as if on command, as if everything had been prepared in advance. I think Valieva's case is completely fabricated by order.

If they ban anyone they should ban the trainer, Valieva was a minor at the time. The trainer is known for abusing her skaters and pumping them out like a factory, she doesn't care about the kids she brings up as athletes, she has 4 replacements for Kamilla. The Olympics are supposed to be a showcase of the best athletes in the world, whoever wins gold will have earned it less now that one of the best skaters who's ever lived has been banned.

But her trainer cannot be punished for doping. Yes, I heard that she is hard and merciless towards them. On the other hand, Anna really looked much better to me at the Olympiad. Everyone has a different style, both are incredibly talented, but Anna never once fell.

She's talented enough to win without doping but the Russian coaches persist in cheating when it is clearly not necessary. I hope she can just go professional and earn a lot of money. Because to ban her for four years, she will be too old to win at the Olympics plus all the injuries she will suffer in the next four years. Very artistic, one of the most beautiful on the ice. Go pro and rake in the dough. She will have to leave Russia though in order to do this. She has no choice but to pursue international fame. She was only fifteen. She was obedient to her coaches. No one blames her. If they give her vitamins or the doctor gives her a pill, she would do as any child would and obey.

In any competition, if one or two athletes are using drugs, the team will be disqualified. He was not disqualified and was awarded the bronze medal because he clearly has collusion between the ISU and Russia. Canada usually deserves the bronze medal.

A team is disqualified if 2 participants have a dirty sample, and not just one! They organized a provocation by not sending the tests on time for verification and reporting. Data obtained in violation of protocol cannot be the basis for accusations.
