Poilievre blames Liberals for “record-smashing” 25% of Canadians living in poverty

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre accused the Liberal government during question period on Tuesday of promising trickle-down economics while “tak[ing] money away” from small businesses and workers.
“Now, a record-smashing 25 per cent of Canadians live in poverty after nine years of his taxes, his deficits and his doubling housing costs. Why is he going ahead with the same economics that caused the poverty in order to solve it?” Poilievre asked.
“The Leader of the Opposition talks about affordability, but he's standing against raising taxes on the wealthiest so we can give more support to those who actually need it,” Trudeau responded.
A new report from Food Banks Canada suggests the number of Canadians living in poverty may be higher than previously thought, with the organization estimating 25 per cent could fall under this category because they cannot afford two or more household essentials.

@@mpomp6378 average salary of private sector employees is 54k, average salary of a public sector employee is 108k. That means the public sector is paid, on average, DOUBLE what private sector workers earn. Being paid significantly more than the average private sector employee means public sector employees are among the highest 50% of wage earners in this country. Employment Insurance is denying claims to workers who earned it and never took CERB. Release statistics on how many Employment Insurance and Sick Employment Insurance claims have been denied since the massive CERB fraud. Its obvious they are desperately trying to claw back money for all of the money lost due to fraudulent CERB claims. If Polievre gets elected and fires a bunch of Employment Insurance staff, I don't think Canadians will mind, since they (government emloyees) were paid very handsomely to deny Candadians earned benefits on loopholes and technicalities withheld from Canadians until they find out about them after their claims are denied. I know someone who had to submit a doctor's note 3 times, that they were healed from a chronic medical condition and fit enough to return looking for work, until the investigator finally believed it and accepted it over 3 months later, only to deny the person's claim because person's car was broke and they were awaiting for their claim to be approved to have it repaired. The investigator said that this meant the person was not available for work because there was no public transit where the person lived. If EI hadn't dragged its feet for 3 months denying the Doctors' notes, the person's car would have been fixed and EI wouldn't have been able to use that as a baloney excuse to deny the person's legitimate claim.

They won't stop till you work for free, give the entire salary to the government, and then try to live on the UBI they will roll out. That's the end game. No salaries, no taxes. Just UBI, and running the country like one large company. Funny, 20 years ago I would have sworn conservatives were planning the same. The parties have fully swapped.

Your income is not a capital gain ever, no matter how much income you earn because your income is not a profit, it's income. Selling your principle residence is not a capital gain either. A capital gain is any money you gain in profits (not what you paid for it, but only your profit) from investments or revenue property or second non-primary properties. And then the money you invest is not a capital gain - only the profit you make on that investment is regarded as a capital gain, just the profit. Then both you and your wife receive each a yearly exemption of $250,000.00 - so that equals to a $500,000.00 exemption for the both of you together yearly. So you could make a $500,000.00 profit and not pay any capital gains tax, and this profit would only be taxed at your regular tax rate just like your earned income from working, which is different than the capital gains tax. And then any profit above your allowed expemption would be taxed as capital gains tax of 66%, which would be your tax rate on the profit only, not your initial investment. The capital gains tax was previously 50% and in this year's new canadian liberal budget, it has just been increased to 66%. So the increase is a 16% difference than the way it was before.

@@coolioso808 I just got your opinion about them and you thought it was worth your time to comment, so yes, I do. KZfaq algorithms block all kinds of comments too anyway so I find it mostly redundant and one way propaganda that CBC does not allow them. The ones KZfaq blocks most are counter narratives on Ukraine, or the crisis in the middle east. It seems to block about 75 percent but will let just enough through that its still worth while trying to post. Sometimes I just use codes like recommending people seek out and learn about courageous, outspoken intellectuals, like Professor John Mearsheimer, or Professor Jeffrey Sachs, or journalist Glenn Greenwald, etc. Thanks for actually asking me a question too and giving me a chance to answer. I find this sort of intereaction in the comments section not as rare as one might think, and it cheers me up sometimes that there are still people out there willing to have civil discussions with strangers. There is no chance to do that when the comments are disabled. Cheers.

@@coolioso808 I just tried to reply and KZfaq blocked it, which kind of proves the point of my original reply, which was that KZfaq algorithms block and censor so much already that its almost impossible to have meaninful interactions with anyone on KZfaq, but at least if comments are not disabled by the content poster, there is a chance. Thanks for actually asking me a question. Its encouraging to see that there are still people out there in the world willing to have civil discussions with strangers. Cheers. (Lets see if KZfaq blocks this one. Its not much different than the one it did block. Oh well. The world is ruled by billionaires, why should KZfaq be any different. Sigh.)

@@coolioso808 I tried to reply twice and youtube blocked it. This is my third attempt. They were both respectful replies. KZfaq doesn't block or hide the comments you describe as "hysterical, ignorant, conservative-backed hate" though.
