In tonight’s top story: U.S. Congress has finally passed a $95-billion aid package to replenish military aid to Ukraine and other countries, as Russia continues to gain ground in its invasion of Ukraine. In a bid to address a slew of other global security concerns, the bill also includes money for Israel, Taiwan and the Indo-Pacific region. The bill will now go to the Senate, which is expected to pass it in the next few days before being signed it into law. As Neetu Garcha explains, the much-needed help was only approved after months of stalling, driven by political divides in Washington, D.C.
A major part of the Congressional aid package - $26 billion- will support Israel in its battle against Hamas, though it’s not clear exactly what that money will be spent on. The war has claimed more than 34,000 lives in Gaza. More than 130 hostages remain in the strip and calls for their return, and a swift end to the war, continue to grow. Crystal Goomansingh reports.
In India, almost one billion people are eligible to vote in the country’s parliamentary election over the coming six weeks. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is hoping for a third term at the helm of the world’s largest democracy. Meanwhile, as Redmond Shannon reports, opposition parties say the odds are stacked against them.
A public inquiry looking into foreign interference in Canada has been heavily focused on the alleged work of Chinese agents in Canada. But a group of Sikh leaders is also pushing for more attention on another perceived threat - India. Global’s chief political correspondent David Akin reports.
Plus, hockey playoff fever is in full swing across Canada - and the big question is: will a Canadian team win the Stanley Cup? It's impossible that any money is laundered in Ukraine, what you say makes no sense at all. Most of the aid money goes directly to US arms manufacturers. Any cash going to Ukraine goes through the International Monetary Fund and is audited by Deloitte which is audited by another firm. The US southern border is not open in any way. All border crossings are operated the very same as they have always been and all places between the crossings are controlled and patrolled by border security the very same as has always been done. The idea that the southern border is open is just another republican lie. Needs of Canadians are the same now and taken care of the same as always. Same as always. If you recall the Harper government things weren't the rosiest either.

Maybe you actually look at what President Biden has doing for the low income people of the US. Removing billions of dollars in student debt for instance, investing billions in housing across America. @@seb_1504 The sanctions against Russia have netted the US phenomenal sales in LNG, oil and even coal. The US has eaten up Russian arms sales. Much of the money allotted to aid packages for Ukraine are actually spent in the US employing factory workers and expanding US arms factories. Those then dominate the international arms markets.

The approach to home construction should be revised commensurate with current manufacturing processes. Homes may be mass produced at low cost. There is little reason to custom build a basic, single-storey home. This process may be automated to produce panels that fit together that are insulated, wired and plumbed. No utility lines connect horizontally between vertical panels. Sinks, toilets and shower head are attached to wall panels that also plug into the floor. Wall panels that include lighting and an electrical outlet, which are possibly 4’x8’ or one meter by three meters, are mass produced in an automated process from a composite plastic material in a variety of creative textures. Panels that comprise the floor are one meter by fifteen meters with the edge panel containing utility lines. A ceiling is set on top of and fastened to the walls. The roof is a convex panel that fits on top of and plugs into the outer walls. It is also possible that with this waterproof plastic material each individual room has a bubble skylight dome roof/ceiling with pipes in the walls that drain into the base. Other refinements include the fabric of the dome comprising a solar array and solar collector. Thus, the entire home is made by inserting vertical wall panels into the floor panel that rests on top of and is connected to the city infrastructure slab base. It is not inconceivable that this single-storey home with one, two or three bedrooms be assembled and ready to move into within a few hours of the kit being delivered. Of course, this will never happen. Keep dreaming. It will take China to lead the way and transform housing from the expensive nineteenth century tailor-made suit concept into economical standard ready-to-wear off the rack homes that cost $15,000/$5,000,000 = 0.003 of the present cost of a home in Vancouver. The flaw in the analysis: Citizens may not utilize land that was _not_ promised to them in the presently cozy arrangement-functioning like a monopoly with monopoly prices-that shunts their lifetime earnings exacted through the cost of shelter directly into the pockets of the chosen few that without effort making them rich beyond belief while after a lifetime of hard work residents own nothing and are left to die homeless on the street.

What I think means to happen is Canadians need to be made aware of the difference in the price of gasoline. We're paying $8.59 per gallon the U. S pays $3.71 per gallon. That's a difference of $4.88 that we pay above. What the Americans pay now? That's why gallons, it's the same price. No matter how you look at it, we're paying a $91 a leader multiply that by 4.5, and that will tell you exactly how much you're paying per gallon, so somebody's got some explaining to you. Why are we paying almost $5 more? For our own gasoline then the americans we need to protest huge about this and it's time people started telling us the truth and stop lying to us

@@andriyopuda8996 Ukraine is going to lose regardless of what is sent to them. The only thing that would save Ukraine is if America declared full scale war, and they aren't going to do that. The whole reason behind the U.S. supplying Ukraine is so that Ukraine can spill their blood against Russia, and not American blood. Ukraine is the ONLY country within Europe that had the slightest chance at actually going against Russia, they have, or rather had similar manpower to that of Russia. It has taken awhile, and frankly I'm surprised at how little it has taken, but even Western MSM, U.S. Generals, and other high ranking officials are coming to grips with the reality that Ukraine isn't going to win, and all the articles circulating here in Western MSM is showcasing such. The only thing these aid bills are doing is delaying Ukraine's inevitable demise. Clearly the aid provided to them in the early stages of the war has done very little but delay the inevitable.

The aid package is all money not 155mm shells . There are no shells sitting on the shelves and it takes months to start ramping up production this is never talked about and people should ask exactly what this money will be used for , is it just to extend the war for another few years ? Give Billions to Ukraine, from printed money, increase the deficit. Then pay more as everything inflates - rents/mortgages, clothing, food etc. watch health care, infrastructure deteriorate, poverty and homeless rise.
