Bear caught in grease trap a "heartbreaking" warning, advocates say

A distressing close call for a young black bear on B.C.’s Sunshine Coast should serve as a warning, animal advocates say.
The incident was captured on camera and fortunately had a happy ending, with the young bruin rescued and relocated.
But as Paul Johnson reports, it serves as a reminder of the importance of bear-proofing your property.

Please always be mindful of human danger to out furry and feathered friends, from trash, broken glass, chemicals, BBQs, traps like this and of course cars.

I used to be fooled into thinking what civilized society they care so much for wild life, but then I realized that inconveniencing them by saying that you're tax money is killing children with bombs and thousands more from starvation and dehydration makes them angry. Your tax money is actively doing this. Sorry for the inconvenience of telling you the truth about yourself.

Very stressful for a bear or any animal to be stuck in this traumatic way for over 12 hours! Just put yourself in her/his shoes. Imagine if he s/he wasn't found thank-you to all the rescuers. Living in BC is a privilege including being surrounded by an abundance of wildlife, people travel globally to view. Making areas safe for wildlife is a people responsibility, the bears are attracted to the smell of the grease.

I have nothing against English but it's what makes us province a unique place where there is a place in North America where the official language is French. Imagine in France people have difficulty being served in French.
