From ethical concerns to potential uses in unexpected industries, University of Toronto computer science professor Steve Engels speculates on what the future might hold for AI.

People dont need AI. Venture capital needs AI to become viable in a way that makes its use necessary, like a tool versus optional, like a nicer tool that does the same job slightly faster. I dont see it happening. The large language models are currently out of things to read and still not that great.

With how AI is going, and the rate it's replacing people in the work force, there will be laws implemented by governments that will either ban them or limit their use. We already have seen it happen: Italy banned ChatGPT. People will say it's never gonna happen but in reality all it takes is one company to push too hard at the wrong time. It happened with lootboxes so it's gonna happen with AI.

If AI gets limited or banned in the USA, some people might not like it. A move like this will put other states at the top of the race when it comes to AI technology, while other states get left behind. AI can be used for good things and also for bad things, as with many things that we use. Imagine you made something that's AI-related, and it gets banned or limited in your state, but in another state, something else related to AI comes out that's not banned or limited, and it does all kinds of incredible things. I would feel bad and not every state will follow the rules of the USA when it comes to AI.

@@cryptojonny6837 This is why I said that it'd either get banned or limited. If limited then it'll only be used for certain things and nothing that would replace the human worker - or be used for scams/defamation. It's like with drugs, alcohol, gambling and tobacco. There will be a time and place for it. But to let it run rampantly and companies putting a lot into AI, without any regulations or limitations, it's a recipe for disaster. Eliminate the human worker, they have no money to spend, thus companies lose money because no one can buy their products, and companies have to lay people off to save money, rinse and repeat. It could lead to economic collapse.

AI has a lot of potential but it is a true misconception. There is no intelligence, but more of a random way of approaching anything. This can come across as seemingly intelligent. It will be prone to all the computer related issues, such as glitches, freezing, garble and the biggest time saver/waster in the same box. Walk On ! ☺♥†♪♫ 6-23-24
