US set to provide Ukraine with $2.3B weapons package: Pentagon

Speaking with his Ukrainian counterpart at the Pentagon on Tuesday, U.S. Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin revealed that the nation is set to announce a $2.3 billion security assistance package to Ukraine amid its ongoing war with Russia.
“Ukraine is in a tough fight and has been ever since the start of Putin's reckless war of choice,” Lloyd said, before revealing U.S. intentions for the eventual new weapons package.
“This package,” he said, “under presidential drawn-out authority, will provide more air defense interceptors, anti-tank weapons and other critical munitions from U.S. inventories.”
Lloyd also re-iterated U.S. support for Ukraine’s aspirations to join NATO, adding that the U.S. will “take steps to build a bridge” for their membership in the North Atlantic Alliance next week, during the annual NATO summit.
“I look forward to discussing more ways to meet Ukraine's immediate security needs and to build a future force to ward off more Russian aggression,” Lloyd added.

@@stillkickinbandgeorgianbay900 The "home team" has had weapons, ammo and armour given to them along with volunteers fighting beside them and NATO special forces from three countries taking out bridges, shooting down planes and acting as FISTrS. Those three countries' special forces in question (Pentagon documents leak from April last year) are the SAS, SEALs and GIGN from Britain, the US and France respectively.

The USA can easily walk and chew gum. This is not a Zero Sum equation for funding, and the investment in Ukraine's defence will improve territorial integrity, and border security everywhere. Domestic, public issues are absolutely capable to be addressed simultaneously, and no government portfolio is being shorted financially by helping Ukraine survive.

The USA is not compromising on domestic portfolios at all, and not other issues are being financially shorted due to helping Ukraine defend it's very existence.

That depends. There were a lot of Ukrainians who fought for the Soviet Union in the Red army, many others remained as loyal citizens of the Soviet Union. Of course traitors like Yaroslav Hunka exist but I don't think there were more of them than the loyal Soviet Ukrainians.

Leonid Brezhnev was born in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast just like Zelensky. Nikita Khrushchev was raised in Ukraine. Konstantin Chernenko also had Ukrainian ancestry. 1.6 million Soviet Ukrainian soldiers were killed in action in World War 2. They died fighting Hitler and Bandera, they served the Soviet Union. And now, Zelensky's grandfather was a Soviet officer fighting in that war in the Red army. But Zelensky, being a Jew himself, now gave standing ovation to a Ukrainian Waffen-SS veteran in Canada.

Theyre not interested. They're juicing the economy. More people means more circulation of money. In the short term is makes the economy appear more virile. In the long term it will destroy long standing social safety nets. It also has the added benefit of creating new voters and people who depend on the government (I guess that's beneficial depending on who you are and where you live)

It's been maintaining the same support as a fraction of its GDP as the US all along (i.e., 0.25%). It doesn't have much in the way of arms to pitch in, but it's there with funding. E.g., it paid $400m for a NASAMS air defence missile battery made by the US and Norway.
