Trump struggles a bit with his pronunciation during speech at cricket stadium in India

4 жыл бұрынTens of thousands of people packed into a stadium in western India to welcome U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday as he began his first official visit to the country. The receptive crowd mostly cheered the U.S. President despite the latter's difficulty with the pronunciation of several Indian names and phrases, including legendary Indian cricket player Sachin Tendulkar and even the pronunciation of "namaste."
Trump said he looked forward to expanding space cooperation between the two nations, and said both sides were at the early stages of reaching an "incredible" trade agreement.
India and the United States have built close political and security ties and Trump's two-day trip is a sign of their converging interests and a way to counter China's rise as a superpower, officials say.

@@shb5169 almost all Indians in cities understand english and a significant chunk speak it well. Tourists hardly ever have communication issues in India. Let's just say the percentage of Indians speaking English is greater than the percentage of people from Miami speaking English.

I too plan to visit “ Aba-Bad” someday and plan to meet Trump’s new best friend - Modi the “Chi-wala “. Hopefully this trip would help me learn more about India’s great spiritual teacher Swami “Viveka-munmunahh” (or whatever his name is!). Wow an excellent honest attempt at speaking their words in effort of being a friend. The headline said they cheered mostly as he struggle to pronounce words. I heard them cheer honestly and enthusiastically, the leader was greatly appreciative and happy listening to Trump so he did an excellent job. Why is this channel seeming to language shame people? Most people have no problem with language struggles especially if someone puts forth effort in front of others. I think he did great.

This would be interesting if any of it were true. I have traveled to India. I have close friends there. The people there love him. The liberal media will never tell anyone this but in virtually every airport I have been in when people recognize me as an American they yell “Trump” and give a thumbs up. To say people left the stadium because he mispronounced words is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve heard. They loved him and got a kick out of him trying to say these words. They are very kind people. Americans could learn a lot in the way of respect from them.
