U.S. President Donald Trump became the first president to watch sumo in the sport's homeland during a four-day trip to Japan, and was able to present the trophy to the tournament champion on Sunday.
Trump is in the country as part of a ceremonial state visit that has been shadowed by tough trade talk.

I was recently reading a book about the many atrocities committed by the formerly imperialist japanese government during the 1800s and early 1900s and I gotta say it's incredible what Japan has done since the end of world war 2. There are still issues in Japanese society that intimidate me as a foreigner but I have incredible respect for them and our other allies.

@ohgodwhy9853
@ohgodwhy9853 2 жыл бұрын
@@comradeleppi2000 You seem pretty surprised that i said Japanese society has it's problems just as any other would. I love Japan but if i had to address it as i currently understand it i would say this. -A work culture that while going above and beyond pushes some into a perpetual mindset that work is everything -Cultural/xenophobic shunning, i say this because i understand even going back generations there are people who live there who are mixed and what have you and despite being born and raised in that country are still looked down upon. But i get it America is a vastly different country there in regard to that. -Crazed otaku culture: When i say this i mean the likes of hikkimori who shut themselves off from reality, general escapism on the basis of what is disillusionment to some when it comes to the anime/manga industry and the vast grip it has on some outside of being an interest in a more negative way. That sorta thing is interesting but the worst aspects of it are very offputting to me. -Low birth rates: i don't think this one is nearly as bad as i've heard it to be but it's a legitimate concern when i imagine how far the Japanese have come in the last century, hopefully they'll carry on but who's to say.

Take a good...long...hard look at this folks. The Japanese are proud of their culture & love their country. Honor means a great deal to them. They don't allow "other cultures" that seek to divide & dominate to immigrate to their country. They teach their children from the start of their school years...what it is to be a proud citizen of a great nation.
