Trudeau having “lots of conversations” with MPs as questions swirl over his leadership

Speaking in Montreal, Que., on Wednesday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he is having “lots of conversations” with Liberal MPs following the party's disappointing loss in Toronto-St. Paul’s, a former Liberal stronghold.
“There are, as always, a range of perspectives and voices within the Liberal Party and listening to all those voices and giving them all time to engage is really, really important,” he said, adding that he’s taken calls from MPs across the country.
Trudeau’s comments come as some Liberal MPs and a former cabinet minister in recent days have called for him to resign in the wake of the byelection upset.

I don’t think he is resigning as PM or Liberal Leader. My guess is even if he loses the next election he will stay on as Leader of the Opposition waiting for Poilievre to break a promise or make a mistake and pounce.😂😂

@@Sam19509 If JT stays on, we may see the Liberal's spit and form a new centrist party. I'll support that idea, we need some competition and diversity. Too far to the left NDP and too far to the right CPC, with a "do nothing but tax and spend wastefully" LIBs in the middle, is definitely not good. The other fringe parties serve no useful function. The CPC could be OK if they did not cater to religious weirdness and conspiracy theorists. What I think we really need right now, are fiscal conservatives in power, it's the other crap they tend to carry with them that concerns me. PP has at least tried to clean up some of the mess and be more appealing to the centre right, he must be listening to someone.

@@Sam19509 Yes I know he's a loon. I'm at a loss here. I cannot, and will not, vote Liberal while JT is leader, and I definitely will not vote for JS's NDP, self-harm is not my thing. There's nothing left except PP's CPC. I know the makeover was intentionally done to appeal to the centre-right, and distance from the fringes on the far right, but it also means, he only stands for whatever will get him elected. I think broadly speaking, only someone who is certifiably insane, would want to be leader of a country.

@@Sam19509 I think that JT is done, and if he refuses to leave, he'll be forced out one way or the other. If, JT somehow survives what's underway, and he does not step down, and cannot be forced out, a sizable percentage of the party will split and form a new party.

To be fair, Canadian 🇨🇦 Trudeau is a good, strong leader with character. Besides helping Canadians get through the Wuhan outbreak, high food prices, housing crises, and healthcare coverages, he stood up to the Russian, Chinese, and Indian interference into Canada.
