As Parliament returns in Ottawa, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attended the first question period of the year, where he was pressed on his plan to tackle the cost of living, federal health spending, crime, and controversial contracts.
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre kicked off the session by questioning Trudeau about the contracts awarded to consulting firm McKinsey under the Liberals, which has been assessed at $101.4 million, according to a statement from Public Services and Procurement Canada.
In addition, citing the recent spike in violence on the TTC, Conservative MP Melissa Lantsman called on the public minister of safety and the Canadian government to reform its "weak" bail system that leaves "repeat violent offenders out on our streets."
Also, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh called out Trudeau for praising Ontario Premier Doug Ford's plan to bring in more private health care as "innovative" when he supposedly criticized the Conservatives for proposing for-profit health care during the last campaign. "Why the flip flop?" Singh asked.

35.7% of my home gas bill was tax alone. They even charged HST on the carbon tax. It's nice to know that we are required to pay absurd taxes (carbon tax) for a necessity of life - not freezing to death!

@@bobmc1721 Yes, I know. Sadly, a large enough minority of Canadians repeatedly voted for Trudeau, many of whom continue their unwavering support (despite corruption and incompetence). The carbon tax will further exacerbate inflation due to an increase for farmers (fuel, and reduced ability to use fertilizer), transportation costs for everybody (including foods and other goods), etc. Of course, all businesses will have to raise their prices to offset the costs of inflation.

The cost of living is speculation and cheating arseholes... It's all local issues. Supermarket giants jacking up prices, restaurants putting 100% menu hikes when they only got hit with 11% cost increases (I worked for once), places without rent control letting rents go up as well as property values which cities like because of property taxes. The one thing that the Federal is guilty of though, is prioritizing RICH immigrants that price us out, or tech people that fill OUR jobs. I want FAMILIES that work and start on the SAME foot as the locals... Not instant owners and bosses. A LOT of businesses are abusing the consumers right now.
