Opioid 25x stronger than fentanyl shows drug crisis is worsening: experts

Health officials in Quebec City are warning the public about a synthetic opioid 25 times more powerful than fentanyl.
Quebec City Regional Public Health Authority says the compound protonitazepyne presents a high risk of overdose, which may require several doses of the life-saving medication naloxone.
The warning comes after Belleville, Ont., issued a state of emergency after a rash of overdoses in the city.
As Nathaniel Dove reports, experts say governments aren’t doing enough to address the crisis and stop overdoses from happening.

So who is prescribing this ? Chronic pain patients can’t get any help from anyone but addicts can keep getting this and fentanyl. Nobody has any ethics anymore.

Chronic pain patients can get on methadone and it is covered by insurance and the doctors are very leanient unlike a doctor who is unwilling to write a script for a 120 oxy 80's plus it is dirt cheap and lasts 24-36 hours

@@Ont785 I know someone who went to the hospital and came out and addict because of an automatic morphine drip. So we definitely do have something to fear even if we'd never choose to do drugs He cleaned up by the way

Yes, I too hate this "addiction can happen to anyone" narrative that came out of the OxyContin experience. It's like, yes, it can, but what happens next is largely determined by one's resources... and privilege. But respectfully, we will be the solution, not the problem.

Fentanyl and now this, are insanely addictive drugs with insane and often deadly withdrawals. It is their fault for taking the drugs, but we need to give them a way to correct their life and get off of them, a lot of these new drugs are being imported from foreign countries, so it would be wise to start there and cut off the supply. Every human life is valuable, especially so for our own brothers and sisters in this country.

Ive taken a small dose of fent in hospital and it was crazy how significant it worked. I couldnt fathom 25x the intensity

Well it wouldn't necessarily be any more intense, if the dose was compensated i.e. reduced by the same factor. It's not the potency of fentanyl or any drug that makes it dangerous, it's not knowing the dose you are taking.

1.) How can it be more powerful then fentanyl if it takes like 60 mg. for a lethal dose? (fentanyl ld only 2mg) 2.) What is lethal dose (mg) of protonitazepyne (*legal)? I read protonitazene (*illegal) is 30 mg, so it seems it'd be more.

Yes! The only policy that has ever worked - Britain (pre-1950s), Switzerland (1970s/80s), and Portugal (late 90s to mid 2010s). Data doesn’t lie (so long as the funding isn’t sourced from “Pharma Inc.” lol). Whether you lean left, right, (or couldn’t give a f*#$k lol), humane drug policy is a win. For the righties, it reduces public expenditure, crime rates, and substance use (long run). For the lefties, it saves lives, provides autonomy of choice, and treats humans like humans.

Chinese labs make fentanyl analogs. They sell it to Mexican cartels via boats. cartels press fake 30s. Smuggle it over the border and there you go. They usually press 30s though i never seen fake 80s before.

Isn't there ever a day when the addicts say enough. I get they are addicted and they generally like the feeling. But 25x the strength it just seems like it may just be repulsive. Like frosting that has too much sugar is repulsive. This drug never reaches a point where it's just too much alkaloids? Like most addictions have a point where it gets gross. Like if I buy too many clothes and shoes I feel disgusted with myself. What quantitative point does this become ick?

The peace, strength and happiness which a regular yoga, tai chi or qi gong practice offer, beyond a full and meaningful life filled with authentic love, teach us that we can be happy without a cause. Perhaps these practices could be introduced to protect youth from ever getting exposed to smoking, drugs, or any other addictions.
