An annual rites pilgrimage has turned into a mass death event as an extreme heat wave grips Saudi Arabia, with temperatures soaring to over 50 C in some areas.
Upwards of 550 pilgrims have died, mostly due to heat-related illness, during this year’s five-day Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca, one of Islam’s holiest cities.
Saudi Arabia has not commented on the death toll amid the heat during the pilgrimage, nor offered any official causes of death for the deceased. Hundreds of people had lined up at the Emergency Complex in the Al-Muaisem neighbourhood in Mecca, trying to get information about their missing family members.

I watched an experiment on this question recently. Black not only attracts but absorbs more heat rapidly! The longer in the sun the temperature climbs at a rapid rate with each passing minute! Within an hour it can be 10 degrees hotter, after 2 hours it can 30 or more degrees hotter, depending on how hot it is! That’s in a northern western climate. Can you imagine in a hot dessert climate!

Let me just explain this for a bit. This isn’t the people’s fault, this is the people who prepared the places for hajj, it’s their fault, it’s their fault they didn’t build a long umbrella for transport, and it’s their fault for not providing cars or transportation for these people. Unfortunately racism is huge in Saudi Arabia, all the people that died weren’t Saudi. But, all the Saudis that performed hajj (+ some other people) are completely fine and had a beautiful time, full of worship, learning and experience. If you’re a muslim foreigner, i really recommend you do your hajj with the saudi groups, not the foreigner one that people will tell you to join.

Good thing I have observed, learned and made my own decision… to be Non-Religious… and not to believe in religions that have only caused deaths, hate and destruction. So many religions and each one thinks is the right and the only belief people should follow (or else), but no one teaches others to be non-religious. It can be very annoying sometimes… if anything, I prefer to be spiritual and peaceful and treat everyone the same. Religion is like politics, racism, dictatorship,… where people think they are right or there would be war. There is a book I highly recommend for Muslims. It's called " Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus" by Nabeel Quershi. The author has since died of cancer, but was instrumental in helping many Muslims find true peace with God. Jesus said : Seek and you will find ; ask, and it shall be given you ; knock and it shall be opened to you. Blessings to all !
