Megan Rapinoe's FULL speech at US Women's World Cup champions parade

Captain of the victorious U.S. Women's National Soccer Team Meghan Rapinoe spoke in Manhatten after being honoured in a ticker-tape parade and receiving the Keys to the City by New York City mayor Bill de Blasio for winning the World Cup in France.
A jubilant Rapinoe praised her extended team, politicians and ended with a heartfelt message to all to "be more, be better, be bigger."
The victory also called attention to the team's fight for equal pay with their counterparts on the U.S. men's national team, and by extension, the issue of equal pay for equal work for women in general.

It's a simple business model. Players in all sports are the product and labor, deserving the majority of revenue. When an equal amount of people start watching women's sports as men's sports, then they'll deserve the same amount of pay. Check the TV revenue numbers, it isn't even close.

@Pamela Wiles no, it is economics. If the owners make more, sell more tickets, etc. Then the players make more. It is just that simple. Hockey players make way less than football or baseball players. Because there is less revenue. People always have to find hate, when there is none. Get the chip off your shoulder.

Equal pay?! What for? Messi and Ronaldo make 30 mill a year because people pay even 500 euro per ticket to see them. They have the skill, the speed, the talent to attract 100.000 people per game (depending on capacity of the stadium), they attract sponsors, sell t-shirts, they are icons. They don’t make that money for being men and just playing fotball. I do that in my back yard and i don’t feel discriminated for not being paid equally. It’s about how you play and where, not about what. When wonen will have that type of skill, results and generate that kind of income, they can ask for equal pay. Until then...be a bit more quiet.
