Vaping is set to get more expensive this summer, thanks to a federal tax increase announced in Canada’s federal budget this year.
Ottawa says making vaping more expensive means fewer will take up the habit, which health experts warn can result in the same kind of health problems plaguing cigarette smokers.
But as David Akin reports, the tax hike may not be steep enough to prevent future generations from getting hooked.

well that was the clean supply method. the whole point was to give clean supplies of actual drugs instead of fentanyl for the experienced veteran drug users. but yeah i agree they need to leave vaping alone they already banned 50MG and 0MG, more taxes will just make it take longer for a kid to save up money for a vape lol.

Regulated but legal for cannabis, mushrooms and MDMA for therapeutic purposes. Toxic addictive drugs in the middle between decrim and illegal, send addicts to rehab, hold the hard drug profiteers accountable.

The answer is "No"..but certian they never get tired of making peoples lives harder and new ways to tax people further into misery. " They don't care" government loves the money...Misery makes them more. Alcohol, cigs, drugs of various sorts in hard economic times full of ignorance, want..strife and sufferage seems to be the cornerstone of a healthy economy..

@FreedaPeeple-in2mn No ones saying vaping is healthy but there's no evidence that its the same or worse than cigs. I have been vaping for the past 1.5 years and have noticed no ill effects (I actually haven't had a cold in the same period of time since switching to vaping which is very unusual as I would get sick all the time smoking cigs. Switching to vaping must be the reason why I haven't had a cold as I cant think of any other changes I made).

I smoked cigarettes for 30+ years. I smelled bad around everybody, I coughed my lungs out all day long and just felt like crap inside. I have vaped now for around 10 years, my entire body feels way better than when I smoked cigarettes. Vaping smells better it tastes better it feels better. The reality is the younger folks are going to experiment with smoking no matter if it's cigarettes or vaping if they choose to do so. I do not support the younger folks smoking but if they are going to be foolish and smoke something I'd rather see them vape over cigarettes. Banning flavors, boosting the price sky high is not going to stop people from smoking or vaping just the same as raising the price of gas will not stop people from driving we all have places to be. Stop attacking the vaping industry!

That is their plan. They are trying to reduce alcohol consumption, vaping, but encourage the use of addictive drugs like fentanyl. Fent is free.

Smoked a pack a day for years, switched to vaping about 4 years ago and i'm looking to switch back to cigarettes now that the price of a 30ml bottle is going to be almost double... What a terrible move. How dumb must you be to not believe that kids will just start smoking again like in the decades before the 2010s?

I quit a 40 year cigarette habit with vaping. Vape juice already had 10$ tax added per bottle in this last year. Why am I being punished because the government can't stop a habit that has kids interested. I spent a fortune on cigarettes in my lifetime and paid taxes on that my whole life nonsmokers never contributed. Vaping has benefits and negatives, but if you have to punish me because sellers can't follow the laws and still sell to kids, you can stuff that tax where the sun don't shine.
