Invasive “vampire fish” on killing spree in Great Lakes

The sea lamprey is an invasive species living in Canada's Great Lakes that had been kept under control for decades - until now.
The lampreys have experienced a surge in numbers, and it could have a devastating ecological and economic impact on the country’s biggest lakes.
Global's Erica Vella explains how the pandemic fuelled a population spike among the “vampire fish” and what's being done to stop them.

@Francois_Dupont
@Francois_Dupont Жыл бұрын
@@bobwoods1302 yes they are. they have been first "discovered" in 1835, but that doesnt mean they weren't there previously. just like when you discover a fossil, it doesnt mean it has just started existing there when you picked it up. in the 1800's the science were just starting and many many things were just starting to happen. no electricity, no car and no radio. people could have seen them in the 1600's, but without proper records you cannot say. -how would they have been imported in 1835? you cannot blame ship ballast -the indigenous were mainly keeping oral records, were they investigated for their version of the Lamproie story? -those fish are known to migrate from the sea to rivers and lakes, why do you claim they do not belong there? are you anti-science?
