A Global News investigation is looking into a connection between the Indian government and a notorious Indian gang police believe is operating in Canada. We’re learning more about the alleged contract killers behind the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Jeff Semple has more on what he’s uncovered.
The U.S. isn’t the only country concerned about Indian intimidation and threats on home soil. Since Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stood up in the House of Commons this fall accusing agents of the Indian state of orchestrating the murder of Nijjar, several other countries have come forward. David Akin has more on India’s growing assertiveness under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In the Middle East, there are reports that talks have intensified toward a ceasefire deal in Gaza and a release of Israeli hostages. A Hamas delegation is in Cairo for talks led by mediators of the United States and Qatar who have reported signs of compromise in recent days. Questions remain, such as how a planned operation for the southern city of Rafah may factor into all of this. Reggie Cecchini reports.

I have some questions for so-called investigative journalist Jeff Semple. First of all, is it not true that India identified 7 gangsters, wanted in India and now residing in Canada, but that Canada has neither detained these criminals nor deported them nor even responded to the Indian government. Is it not true, Jeff Semple, that at least two of those accused in the Nijjar case should not even have been in Canada because they were violating the conditions of their visas?

So India has around 50 journalists for every Canadian journalist. Under such conditions Canadian media should be scrupulously honest but failed miserably. I work at the bank, in 2023 I opened lots of newcomers accounts, 99% of them are from India, very very few people from other countries. When I heard government said there’s almost half of the newcomers are from India, I don’t believe it, it’s impossible only around half, it’s almost all of them. No more diversity

They do get deported and rules that’s got changed for everyone now , it’s gonna be hard to get PR so they have to resort to other ways moreover most of them are great and they bring lot of money for school so Canadian education is cheaper without govt funding so govt can use that money on other resources like health care and rcmp. Moreover you don’t know that it takes time to get out of status like they have to have 2 year visa finished and they will have no ground to renew the visa and thereafter govt can kick them out but this is hypothetical scenario
