The Ontario Medical Association (OMA) is warning the entire business model of family medicine is failing, with many physicians resorting to own bank accounts to keep their practices afloat. Abigail Bimman speaks with some family doctors about why they are giving up and what one advocate says needs to be done to fix the worsening problem.
Ontario-based BTNX received a significant federal contract to supply COVID-19 rapid tests at the beginning of the pandemic. While it received billions of dollars and is a Canadian company, its supply chains stretched far beyond Canada's borders. The medical system needs an overhaul. It is not fair to have two classes of citizens - those who have family doctors, and those who don't. They pay the same level of taxes but receive drastically different health care.

This is not true, Look at the number of applicants for Medical school in the university, its available on each of their websites. The number of applicants for the program is astronomical, they purposefully keep the admissions low. At the same time, its the Canadian Medical Association that actively campaigns against NP, Doctors Assistant or Pharmacist from prescribing or practicing individually. There are so many foreign trained doctors that are working as Nurses and some even as ward aids, because the freking license is near impossible to get for them.

"There are 19 populations across the Arctic with 19 different stories, but the worldwide average is not increasing. Some populations have experienced steep declines while others have rebounded a little after their numbers were vastly reduced by hunting, but that increase is likely to be reversed as the sea ice melts."

In your total number of drs and nurses saying we have the most ever. Does that include health care staff that got fired for not vaccinating? And is that number including totally qualified drs and nurses that have moved to Canada but are not allowed to practice? If they are included in that total I would like you to quote how many health care providers are “allowed” to practice.

The insurance industry is taking all the profit for their back pocket for their CEOs! They did everything humanly possible to run me out of business 10 years ago because I refuse to drug people according to their orders. They told me I was forbidden to help people my job was to give drugs only. I live in a tiny state what the top insurance CEOs in 2005, each one was taking home $4 million to $5 million but they didn’t even wanna pay the doctors $100 an hour! I’m still in practice but I cannot bill insurance so that means I’m very poor and I have 50 years experience including Nutrition. Somebody needs to be investigating the insurance industry for stealing all the money, and not giving patients any care at all, just drugs

There have been several unverified claims of Ukrainian corruption. "Shortchanged: Seymour Hersh's Claim Zelenskyy Embezzled $400M in US Aid Lacks Evidence. The entirety of the claim apparently comes from what Hersh describes as "one knowledgeable American intelligence official." Hersh's career of late has been controversial and widely panned by journalists for promoting conspiratorial claims that hinge on dubious anonymous sources or speculation. His later work is often sympathetic to Russian talking points, and his work is widely covered there. Hersh's present claim fits plainly within that genre. Characteristically, it has been promoted by Russian media. Readers of Hersh's reporting could be forgiven if, by the end of the story, they forgot that it was allegedly an expose on Ukrainian embezzlement. Despite being the primary assertion of the story, only two paragraphs are dedicated to the claim. Hersh hides this clear lack of supporting evidence under a torrential onslaught of superfluous information. As in his fundamentally flawed investigation claiming U.S. involvement in the Nord Stream pipeline sabotage, his present claim is bolstered by references to actual events and tinted with conspiracy, thanks to the testimony of anonymous intelligence sources (or potentially a sole source) claiming to have non-public insight into those events. Fundamentally, the actual news presented in his story is that someone knowledgeable supposedly told Hersh that Zelenksyy and his "entourage" have been embezzling U.S. funds by purchasing discounted Russian oil and pocketing the difference. Wow an other story that was over a decade too late, but please show concern. The news cashed their pay checks and report on what they are told to report. Who owns the news 'SHOW' sets the content and news flash....it's not a non biased reporting platform. In the 1960's you could go to the library of congress and randomly pick a subject and find a large scandal not being reported. You could still do it today.

I am so sick of seeing people voting Conservative and then turning around and asking “Where did my Health Care go?” What did you think was going to happen? The Conservative party is the Party that gives tax breaks to the rich and corporations and then cuts your benefits and public services to pay for it. They’ve been doing it ever since they became a political Party. But people get distracted by personal issues or “values issues” and then vote against their own interests to support the people who take away your services.  You want Health Care back to what it used to be? Vote NDP. You can’t have it both ways. If you are going to vote for the Conservatives then you are saying goodbye to all your public services. Most people are never going to be rich, there’s a reason they are called the 1% because that’s your chances of ever becoming one. Thats the way it is and has always been. So decide what’s more important to you. Having health care or not. Pick one.

This id the fault of Ford who cut health care and cut funding for medical procedures to the point where most doctors left the province. Health care should be our number 1 priority, What good is anything else if you don't have proper health care for when you get sick? We need to start taxing the rich and big corporations properly and use that money to fund health care. I am tired of seeing people sacrificing everything to benefit the rich. Fird wants to defund Public Health Care to create more privatized Health Care so the rich can cut to the front of the line and leave everyone else behind like in the US. Hate to break this to you guys but almost everyone reading this will never be rich and we have thousands of years of proof of that. Stop believing in that lie sand start voting for your own interests instead of the rich.

Canadian money is spent in OUR MILITARY employing Canadians. Ukraine can't use Canadian money. But they can use the aid we package up in Canada(meaning people are working here) to send there. Long term lending program which Ukraine will pay back in installments....when they can. No different when YOU get a mortgage for a house...the bank LOANS you the immediate funds which you repay over a long time period. Same idea, Remember when Ma & Pa loaned you the money for your first car? You repay them back with your paper route money.

When are we going to acknowledge that health care must be under federal control.take example of Quebec who now believes that they are an independent country and want nothing to do with Canada but just want their transfer payments. We actually need a new process of the federal government. Justin Trudeau has proven that the king of kanada kan't do it on his own. The federal government must be made up of the leaders of the provincial governments. Two family doctor’s suddenly retired . One without notice when the pandemic began & one with three month’s notice. A sign of the times . An IT specialist make’s more money than a family doctor, it no longer holds the cashe’ it once did, especially when government does not respect the work. A couple years ago my family Dr retired, so I thought. Turns out she was fed up with the healthcare system and OHIP and decided to open up her own private practice. Apparently she charges $5000 a year and she probably asked and selected her wealthiest patients that could afford her services. This infuriates me because the doctor that she was nice enough to dump me off on I do not like and trying to find a new doctor is virtually impossible.
