McGill University is asking Montreal police for help to remove pro-Palestinian protesters from an encampment on its campus.
Some demonstrators have left on their own, but there are still dozens of tents pitched in the mud, and those staying put say they will do so until their demands are met.
Mike Armstrong explains how police are reacting to McGill’s request and how lawyers have gone to the Quebec Superior Court hoping to ban protests within 100 metres of the school.

@@Kye9842 This is Canada. The protest has nothing to do with any legislation created by any of our governments. Freedom of assembly and speech are rights earned by Canadians to pass on to future Canadians. And to be exclusively used about Canadian problems. These protesters are abusing the charter of rights. These protests cost money to police, increased garbage to be collected and citizens are inconvenienced. Canadians aren't interested in foreign problems because there are plenty here: Homelessness, drug abuse, crime, over priced rent and homes! So cancel these protests. They use up city resources and police budgets and for a cause which is NOT beneficial or relevant to this country at all!! Have you learned nothing from watching the Stop Oil protestors!? 👎 You're gonna get a beat down sooner or later.

"I remember attending a pro-Israel hasbara (propaganda) workshop over forty-five years ago that strongly encouraged, as a response to critics of Israel, accusations of antisemitism. Don’t focus on the argument, we were told, but, rather, discredit the person making the argument by accusing them of antisemitism. Accusations of antisemitism directed at Palestinians and supporters of Palestinian rights are not new and have been a strategy of Israeli government and pro-Israel hasbara for decades. One of the most visible iterations of this phenomenon currently is the controversial International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism. Promoted by Israel’s right-wing government and its supporters, and adopted by the U.S. and other western governments, the IHRA definition goes full speed in conflating criticism of Israel and support for Palestinian justice with antisemitism." They're not trying to change the West's relationship with Israel- they're trying to have their universities stop funding Israel. That video that's on KZfaq of some chick standing on the steps of McGill University screaming about how she's so happy October 7th happened. And there was swastikas and there was Nazi salutes and there was people chanting along with what she was saying. The fact that you're not alarmed that those kind of people are on the exact same side you were is kind of telling. Cuz I'm going to say if I show up at a protest and there's one Nazi flag on my side I'm going to leave. The fact that these people are okay with these people amongst their missed have done nothing to remove them is alarming. Also tell me since you have the time to watch so many KZfaq videos that you just regurgitate everything you hear. Have you volunteered at organizations that help refugees? Cuz you know Canada's taking in people from the Gaza strip. And refugees organizations like I work at were always in desperate need of volunteers. Or funding. Or tell me have you fundraised for aid organizations on the ground? Like Doctors without borders amnesty international the Red Cross? No, I didn't think so. In fact, I know that Miguel has a sister organization to the one I volunteer at and they've told us that they're so desperate for volunteers right now that they've had to shut down successful programs that help refugees like the ones coming from Gaza. Tempers are flaring all around, after all. And, the pro genocide faction was so happy about this, in one of the countless protests against Israeli war crimes, there was one person on stage being genuinely antisemitic, as opposed to simply criticizing Israel, which is their usual definition. All that Nazi stuff is pure fantasy and your moralizing about people like that in your midst is pretty rich coming from someone defending genocide. No, I can't say that I've volunteered for any of those organizations. I volunteer twice a week, but at a different organization. As to my social media presence, I like to do this as a small contribution to combating the extensive resources of the IDF being used to spin reality to their purposes. @@captcanada7278It’s been going on for years. As usual, the bigger countries want more. Should split it all up and rename the regions “war torn country 1”, “war torn country 2” etc and make Jerusalem a tourist attraction. Bloody old m e n and their war machine ruin this world.

No one cares. It has nothing to do with Canada. Take it elsewhere. The only thing these growing protests (and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in general) have proven is Canada must make a choice. Allow Jews in Canada or Muslims, but not both. They clearly can't live peacefully with one another regardless of country. 👎

@@thrillhouse-five Well, actually, it relates to Jews, in context, after the attempted genocide of Jews, by the Nazi regime, which had followed thousands of years of attempted genocides. So, it was declared, finally, "Never Again!" The Shoah was the last straw. Enough! Of course, noone should face what we have had to, for aeons. But, "Never Again," really does refer, specifically, to Jews never facing genocide, again. Then, October 7th happened. We are standing strong behind "Never Again!"

To stop Israel's crime and genocide in the Gaza Strip, I call on you who call for peace and an end to war, even if you are not a Muslim, to join the demonstration and proclaim the testimony of faith in Islam in Arabic: "Ashhadu Allah ilaha illallahu wa Ashhadu anna Muhammadan abduhu wa rasuluh,” with its translation: “I testify that there is no True Ruler above us except the One Creator, and I testify that Muhammad is His slave and messenger.” All tyrants in all states are afraid of openly pronouncing the testimony of faith in Islam. Because God and His Messenger Muhammad commands to be kind to all living things and not to commit atrocities on earth. God and His Messenger Muhammad prohibit obeying the decrees and will of tyrants, the orders of evildoers. Therefore, even the rulers of Muslim countries are afraid of openly recognizing the evidence of faith in Islam. Criminal rulers and dictators are afraid of recognizing the supremacy of the law of the True Ruler - God. Criminal rulers and dictators are afraid of recognizing the supremacy of the command of the Messenger of God - Muhammad (peace be upon him). And tyrants are ready to do anything to prevent people from pronouncing their testimony of faith in Islam! Do this, and you will see that with God's help, in 3 days the war in Gaza will end, the killing of women and children will stop! Make the testimony of faith in Islam and its translation a challenge, a flash mob, a slogan, a flag against atrocities on earth and genocide. Make the recognition of Islam and its translation a challenge, a slogan, a flag against killing and against supporting the killing of innocent women and children. Spread it!
