Ex-Ontario firefighter pleads guilty to wife’s murder after body found in flaming car

9 күн бұрынA Collingwood man has pleaded guilty to the murder of his wife after her body was found inside a burning SUV more than a year ago.
In a Barrie courtroom Thursday afternoon, James Schwalm pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of 40-year-old Ashley Schwalm.
On Jan. 26, 2023, Ontario Provincial Police found a wrecked SUV on Arrowhead Road in Collingwood, which was on fire. Police found Ashley’s body inside the vehicle, and later alleged James - a former Brampton fire captain - murdered her and staged her death.
On Feb. 3 police charged him with second-degree murder and indignity to a dead body. On Feb. 17, the charges were upgraded to first-degree murder.
In court Thursday, he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of second-degree murder.

@@user-qo1gk2kj3e My sister 20 years ago when she caught her husband cheating and wanted a divorce well because she worked and he did not SHE had to pay him child support and she only could keep the kids part time. Courts ruling. He ended up only taking them a day or two a few times a month because his desire to have them half the time didn't really suit his needs he just played it and he lived happlily off his child support for quite a few years. And this happens a lot. So please do your research better.

How absolutely terrible. It's so rare to see such criminal psychology in a fire fighter. My heart goes out to the family and the 2 kids who now have to grow up knowing that their father killed their mother!

Ashley Schwalm was 'doing' her boss, and then her husband James Schwalm, was getting it on with Ashley's boss'es, ex-wife of all things. 😂 This is almost as stupid as the Denise Williams case in Florida from a few years ago. The Williams case was definitely more twisted for sure.

There is no monitoring of this system to ensure Muslim women are receiving treatment equal to that provided under Ontario law. These legalized separate courts do not extend to criminal law though. He had to have had mental dysfunction. There was obviously some lack of decency/morals on the part of both individuals. Theirs wasn’t a “home” as much as it was a “pad”. No proper bonding with the children. Neither was screwed down to the deck. Only a psychiatrist but something tells me that after a sit down dinner with them… I could have probably told you that something was really amiss with these two. Neighbours probably gave the same clueless assessment that they always give: “They were quiet and kept to themselves!” 😏

Even the couples who do eventually find forgiveness struggle with it. He shouldn't have murdered her over it, he could've just divorced her. Affairs are not worth all the horrible out comes that follow. That 10-30mins of passion will cause so much pain & greif later on. It will destroy both ppl from the inside out. Unless you're a swinger couple who both agrees, DO NOT ever participate in an affair! Keep your fantasies, fantasies. If you don't love each other then separate & have your fun. Just don't do it at the other person's expense.
