Recovery efforts are underway in Nova Scotia, where a humpback whale has died after becoming stranded on a sandbar in Shubenacadie River.
A Minke whale was also spotted in that river less than a month earlier, but it managed to survive after finding its way out at high tide.
Heidi Petracek explains what could have brought the whale upstream and what could happen if crews can't get the remains out.

@@cielthefangirl2876 Never in history has a whale or sea creature beached itself and died from natural causes. Animals do not die from long life. Many other animals (thousands at minimum) will live from 1 dead humpee. If you think the rich are to blame stop supporting them... live off the grid... you are on an electronic device. Mind blown... gotcha. In other news thousands of humans die from abortion.

The Canadian Government pretends to recycle plastic. It is all fake on our end, shipped across the world and either buried in landfills, or dumped in the ocean by Countries that constantly get away with it because the UN does nothing. There are probably many undocumented whales that go up the river for reasons unclear to us. It is tragic this rare stranding occured and the humpback oerished. Blocking access to other whales may cause greater harm than good if there is an unknown purpose behind their up river excursions.

Yes, marine life dies all the time as with all life but how many are as a result of mankind's arrogance, greed and carelessness. We here time and time again about animals dying as a result of being caught up in discarded fishing gear, collisions with ships and starvation from eating plastic. So yes this may very well be as a result of natural causes but not acceptable if at the hands of human activity.
