Those working in artificial intelligence (AI) often tout it as the technology of the future, helping humans to solve the world’s biggest challenges - like climate change.
But one expert is warning that it could further exacerbate a problem that is already harming the planet.
Open AI’s Chat GPT uses twice the amount of electricity as a typical Google search, according to a new report from the International Energy Agency.
That report cites research from Alex De Vries, who shares his concerns with Global’s Nathaniel Dove.

Definatley because all technology costs energy power using your laptop and google only costs energy until your giving a product back.

of course, need server space, it will make people get more powerful machines to run them, more resources required and more space to house it all. it's going to be an industry, the largest industry in tech. that being said, there is a reason google and the like are looking at geothermal facilities and the list goes on. it's a race of firsts, and energy efficiency is part of it.

What needs to stop is the planes spewing trails in our skies. A sunny morning within an hour can turn hazy with plane after plane leaving lasting trails. Some days the planes have typical trails that disappear quickly. I believe these planes are a big climate problem. Stop them.
