Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek on Tuesday announced that the city is “one giant step closer to returning to full water usage,” adding that residents can now return to “regular indoor water usage,” but would like residents to "ease into it."
Gondek said Calgarians are able to return to normal indoor water consumption because the Bearspaw feeder main that was catastrophically damaged on June 5 is now operating at 50 per cent capacity.
"We look forward to slowly restoring outdoor water use as we continue to monitor the system's stabilization process," she added.
While the city had never restricted indoor water use, officials have pleaded with Calgarians for weeks to conserve water indoors so that the city’s supply does not run out. Restrictions on outdoor water use and a fire ban remained in effect on Tuesday.

Thanks to everyone who helped. I personally used to be a heavy equipment operator on an underground crew with a private company and I can tell you it’s not an easy or fast job even when things are running smoothly. Underground crew installs water and sewer mains as well as lines to homes and businesses.

Wow. Anyone with half a memory would notice they keep moving the goalposts. Not much honesty at city hall.

Goal post? July 5th was the estimated date. Learn math.

July 1 was supposed to be the date water restrictions were to be lifted. Then they started talking stabilization of the system which extended this time line and now its indoor and outdoor use. Changing goal posts!

@@marjorietench3925 WRONG. They quoted July 5th. That was the 4th week time frame. They also gave a 5 week buffer. I am sorry your are mistaken.

The original timeline of 5 to 7 days should have had the after construction steps in it, flushing, potable testing, system balancing. Now after construction timeline is longer then the original estimate of start to finish of the entire project. The City have shown they didn’t know how to timeline a project. I’ve been in engineering for 35 years in the private sector, if a project scheduler couldn’t explain these discrepancies they’d it would be there last project.

@@Dude99124 There was NEVER a 5-7 DAY timeline, so you can stop telling lies. They discovered the issue, then built a timeline accordingly. After the first week they established a public briefing twice daily where they discussed the timeline in detail and have repeated this exact timeline for 3 weeks. They had the specialized part trucked in using their professional network. You just sound emotional you are not being paid to do it. lol

Wasn’t the one pipe the problem that caused the water issue? If it’s fixed then why is the problem still going on
@JEdwarrd
@JEdwarrd 4 күн бұрын
One pipe, which was quoted a total of 5 weeks AFTER excavating the pipe so the crews could understand the type of breakage. They also discovered 5 areas that needed additional fixing simultaneously . It's great they host these DAILY briefings to educate the public, if the public cares to listen!!! Have you been listening?
