Burglar takes the cake: Vancouver thief snatches goodies, and cleans store

A Vancouver cafe burglary was caught on video early Friday but it was not a typical break-in.
The only thing stolen from the store? A box of six cupcakes.
The suspect was also seen doing a number of odd activities in Vancouver’s Sweet Somethings on Dunbar Street.
“At first, it was really upsetting. Businesses have had a really hard time since COVID and it’s really hard for small food businesses to make it,” said Emma Irvine, Sweet Something’s owner.
“So, at first, it was like, ‘another expense, another challenge.’ But then we watched the video and we couldn’t help but laugh.”

My wife and I visited her cousin in Toronto. We are from New Jersey. The land of darkness, where all hope goes to die and dies screaming. So, anyway, we are up in Canada (for any scientists, "up" means "north" --- that is an official NASA term). We are leaving a mini-mall. Some heavy metal kid is on his bicycle...driving along the sidewalk that we are about to cross. The heavy metal kid stops...and politely gestures for us to go first.! Canada has polite heavy metal kids!! Absolutely true story. If anyone, ever, has a chance to move to Canada? Just go and don't look back.

People love to get mad. A living being was drunk, was fairly benign aside from the door which hilariously he tried to clean up after himself. I don’t mind living in a world where this kind of stuff happens. Yes pay for the damage but then laugh at the hilarity.

Damn, i guess imma just walk around outside the Apple store at 3AM, knock on the glass doors a few times, then kick it open, then wander around and clean up the glass with a mop, then take a few iPhones and leave. Surely the employees will review the footage the next day and have a good laugh at it!

Omg! Love how the owner turned the situation around! I wanted to buy some of these cupcakes to help out BUT NOT FOR $9 A CUPCAKE!! You have lots of video, selfies and fingerprints all round the store. The cops will catch this guy and you will get your money back. If your prices weren’t ridiculous I would have drove out from Maple Ridge to get some today.

@@lookingfornothing69_ "$9 a cupcake isn't that bad" wow! minimum wage is $16.75 per hour. 1 cup cake for over HALF of 1 hour of working min wage. JUST ONE CUPCAKE. That IS too much. So what's stopping you from going down there and buying a few dozen $9 cupcakes? Sounds like you're made of money and have a full understanding of how far to stretch a dollar. Maybe you can pay your rent with these $9 cupcakes. I'm sure your landlord would accept this. Like I said in my post. There is alot of evidance on the guy who did the crime. They'll catch him and she'll get her money back. Also insurance will pay for the repairs.

@@GlueNotGlitter Truth. For someone to say "$9 a cupcake ain't that bad" I would like to see a receipt showing how many dozen Moneybags here bought at that price. Put your money where your mouth is. And "Costs her $3 a cupcake to make"? What are you smoking? If it costs her $36 to make a dozen cupcakes she probably shouldn't be making cupcakes. Actual materials I would say no more than $6 to make, and that's still pretty generous. And if she's selling them at $9 a piece that's $108. No thank you. If she's choosing not to go through her insurance company then she's just replacing the entrance door, which would be the same or less than the deductible she would have to pay. The frame wouldn't even be damaged from that. He smashed one glass panel, which might require replacing the whole door, and I would probably replace the mop or mop head because good luck getting glass out of that.
